This is how I spent the first day of fall :)
New York Fashion Week Spring 2013 was an amazing success. Great weather, beautiful clothes, and fun events. I didn’t drive myself by attending a million shows. Even though my schedule was still crazy (and I caught a bad cold) I was able to enjoy it a little better. What were some of your favorite looks fron this past fashion week?
This was the beauty scene at the Elements Showcase a few weeks ago. Brands like Ten Over Ten, Bond NYC, and RGB were in the house. There was rooftop margaritas and oysters to enjoy. My favorite find of the day were the brass nail tips by K/LLER.
When I was a little girl every summer my family and I would spend the week of 4th of July in Wildwood NJ. Fast forward to my adulthood and I completely forgot what Wildwood looked like. It was nice to return to the small beach resort area after which felt like 100 years. I lounged around our cute beach bungalow, walked the boardwalk, slept in and even rode rides with my brother. Wildwood is close to Sag Harbor, Cape May and 40 minutes from Atlantic City. Of course I needed a night if craziness so I spent the night at the Revel and gambled all my money. It was such an enjoyable week.
A few weeks ago I attended K Fashion which was presented by celebrity stylist Patricia Field. She’s the fashionable brainchild behind the Sex and the City and Ugly Betty set looks.
First let me tell you the clothes were crazy amazing and oddly affordable. There were live models and mannequins both styled from head to toe by Patricia. She’s so talented. All the models wore accessories from Patricia’s store on Browery.
I got a chance to chat with Fields and she isn’t full of fluff! She’s def a die hard fashionista but we also talked about politics and how fashion has a large effect on our economy. I enjoyed my time and my intern Alana (who is a stylist in the making) was completely wowed my Patricia’s presence. She even gave Alana some advice on becoming a stylist.
Sexy Hair had a sexy soirée last week, revealing Marilyn Monroe as their new brand ambassador. Held at the Plaza Hotel, beauty bloggers and editors sipped champagne in Hollywood fashion while getting makeup and hair makeovers.
The evening was fun and the giant pictures of Monroe were inspiring.
Look for Sexy Hair’s new Marilyn Monroe ads this October!
I’m back from Las Vegas and I had such a blast! Yes it was 105 degrees, but it was all in the name of beauty. I attended Cosmoprof North America at the Mandalay Bay.
It was so overwhelming. Three full days of new beauty brands, beauty products, hair stylist, and makeup artist. There were also classes that included big names like, Arianna Huffington.
My favorite section was Beautique. We were able to pick 7 travel size samples. All donations for boxes went to City of Hope.A few of my top beauty product picks from Cosmoprof 2013 are: *Jose Eber Worlds Fastest Flat Iron (Gets desired temperature in 5 seconds) *Hot Iron Holster (Heat resistant pouch that hangs off of sink and holds blow dryers, flat irons and curling irons) *China Glaze Nail Polish (Everything from Halloween gift sets to nail polish that looks like snow. The brand has soapy great polishes coming out) *Obliphica Hair Care (Great new line of products to tame hair keep it healthy. Plus, creator and celebrity stylist, John Blaine brought best friend and client Pamela Anderson to chat. Total girl crush!)
A few weeks ago I attended Splash at the HBA Global Expo at the Jacob Javitz Center. Splash consist of smaller or emerging brands trying to get noticed by buyers, investors and media.
It was a great opportunity for me to learn about new products as well as meet the owners and creators.
There were some cool new skincare lines like Valcena and the new luxe skincare line for men called Twinluxe.
A few years ago my best friend moved to the Miami area. While she lived there I visited her on Fourth of July and I had a blast. She has since moved back north, but I still visit every year. It’s become my own personal tradition. The water, the fireworks, and of course the parties. Through the years I’ve stayed at the W South Beach and sometimes the W Ft Lauderdale, but the Westin Diplomat in Hollywood has always been my favorite. I always get their beautiful corner suite, with views of the beach. I enjoy Haulover beach (#1 nude beach in the country) which is only a few miles away and I always have to go shopping at the ultra swanky Anventura Mall. My Fourth of July vacation always brings me back to life :)
